Herman Moncure – Shareholder | Practice Group Leader – Estate Planning

Herman Moncure is a partner at Pyke Balen & Moncure, P.C. and serves as Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Estate Planning practice. His path to estate planning was shaped by personal experience, professional discipline, and a deep understanding of the importance of preparation and compassion.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Herman was primarily raised by his grandparents. His grandfather spent 44 years working for General Motors, while his grandmother dedicated 25 years to a local hospital. As a young man, Herman played an active role in overseeing their end-of-life care, coordinating medical decisions and later administering their estates. These experiences gave him firsthand insight into the emotional and legal challenges families face and sparked his commitment to helping others navigate estate planning and probate matters with clarity and care.

Prior to attending law school, Herman spent over a decade working in business and finance, including serving as a portfolio manager across multiple asset classes. While working full-time, he pursued his law degree and volunteered as a student attorney, drafting estate plans for elderly clients and providing court-related updates on the well-being of wards. This combination of legal training, financial expertise, and service-oriented work continues to define his practice today.

Herman holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College of Business. He earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Eastern Michigan University and is a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity.

As a Certified Guardian and Attorney Ad Litem in the State of Texas, Herman fully understands the responsibility involved in protecting vulnerable individuals and family legacies. Clients value his ability to blend technical precision with empathy, ensuring estate plans are both legally sound and deeply aligned with personal goals.
